Session Eight

How do we manage student behaviour for learning?

This session focuses on behaviour management as part of effective session planning. Industry Associates explore how clear expectations, purposeful activities, use of space and positive relationships can encourage desired classroom or workshop behaviour. The session also introduces practical techniques for addressing or de-escalating challenging behaviour, while making clear that Industry Associates will be supported by provider colleagues.

Industry Associates will:

  • Align their session planning to encourage desired classroom/workshop behaviour.
  • Understand how structure, pace and engagement support positive behaviour.
  • Apply techniques to control and organise the learning environment.
  • Consider how meet-and-greet routines and personalisation can support relationships.
  • Explore practical approaches for addressing or de-escalating challenging behaviour.
