Session Seven

How do we motivate with engaging and challenging content?

This session explores student engagement and motivation. Industry Associates consider how learning experiences can be designed to hold students’ attention, support active participation and connect learning to students’ goals. The session introduces affective, behavioural and cognitive engagement, and examines how pace, interaction, relevance and resources can be used to create engaging and challenging content.

Industry Associates will:

  • Understand key principles of student engagement and motivation.
  • Explore how students’ emotions, behaviours and thinking affect engagement.
  • Identify indicators that students are, or are not, engaging with learning.
  • Examine techniques for building engagement through pace, interaction, relevance and resources.
  • Reflect on engaging learning experiences from their own education and industry backgrounds.
