How do we use formative assessment to support learning?
This session builds on the previous discussion of assessment by focusing on formative assessment. Industry Associates explore how formative assessment can be used during learning to check progress, respond to student understanding, and adapt delivery. The session introduces practical techniques such as questioning, quizzes, think-pair-share, and traffic lights, and encourages Industry Associates to identify similar practices from their own industry settings.
Industry Associates will:
- Revisit the role of assessment in the design and delivery of learning experiences.
- Understand the purpose and benefits of formative assessment.
- Reflect on how formative assessment is used in industry and educational settings.
- Explore practical formative assessment techniques they may adopt in their own practice.
- Consider how formative assessment can improve their developing session plan.
