How do we communicate useful feedback to students?
This session explores what makes feedback useful, motivating and effective for students. Industry Associates consider feedback in FE and in their own professional contexts, identifying what makes feedback constructive or unhelpful. The session introduces characteristics of effective feedback and practical structures such as WWW/EBI, SWANS and the feedback sandwich, giving Industry Associates an opportunity to practise forming feedback for realistic student scenarios.
Industry Associates will:
- Define what makes feedback effective for students.
- Identify and critique different approaches to student feedback.
- Understand feedback as an ongoing dialogue that supports progress.
- Practise forming effective feedback using structured approaches.
- Reflect on how to apply feedback strategies in their own Industry Associate practice.
