Session Four

How to plan and deliver a session as an Industry Associate?

This session introduces the key components of effective lesson planning. Industry Associates consider how aims, objectives, student needs, and curriculum goals shape a purposeful learning experience. The session focuses on backward design: starting with the intended learning outcome, then planning activities and evidence of learning that will help students reach that outcome.

Industry Associates will:

  • Recognise the key components of effective lesson planning.
  • Identify the role of curriculum goals and student needs in planning.
  • Apply backward design principles to plan a purposeful session.
  • Critique examples of lesson planning and consider how planned activities support intended outcomes.
  • Begin refining their own short teaching sequence or learning activity.
