Session Eleven

How do we plan an effective sequence of lessons?

This session introduces sequencing as the process of considering how learning experiences fit together over time. Industry Associates explore what makes a well-sequenced scheme of learning and how individual sessions sit within wider programmes, student journeys and curriculum goals. The session also introduces the Content Representation Exercise, or CoRe, as a tool for mapping key ideas and using subject expertise to shape effective learning sequences.

Industry Associates will:

  • Understand what constitutes a well-sequenced scheme of learning.
  • Identify principles that shape decision-making when sequencing learning.
  • Recognise that even a single Industry Associate input sits within a wider curriculum sequence.
  • Use subject and industry expertise to think about how learning should be ordered.
  • Create an outline sequence for a learning experience in their subject area.
