Session Two
Who are your students?
This session introduces Industry Associates to the students they may encounter and support in Further Education. It explores the diversity of FE students, the idea of each student being on an individual journey, and the importance of understanding students’ starting points, ambitions, and wider circumstances. Industry Associates consider how this knowledge can inform the way they approach their inputs to support teaching and learning activities.
Industry Associates will:
- Develop introductory knowledge of the diverse nature of FE students.
- Understand that there is no single ‘typical’ FE student.
- Explore student journeys through case studies.
- Reflect on how students’ backgrounds, ambitions and support needs may shape learning.
- Consider how their own industry experience can support students’ future progression.
